AFRICA ATTRACTIONS

Mauritius

Mauritius is an independent nation composed by the islands of Mauritius, Rodrigues and other small islets. Together with the French territory of Reunion forms the Mascarenhas Islands. A former Dutch, French and British colony until independence in 1968, Mauritius is a real cultural melting pot with strong European and Indian influences. The island's resorts are considered by many to be the best on the Indian Ocean Islands, with a special mention for fusion cuisine.

The beautiful tropical beaches are the main attraction of the island, each with specific characteristics according to the position: Trou aux Biches, Belle Mare, Flic en Flac, Le Morne, Tamarin and Bel Ombre are among the most famous. Tours to neighboring islets, such as Île aux Cerfs or Île des deux Cocos, are also high on the list of attractions. There are also beautiful waterfalls, such as Tamarind and Chamarel, botanical gardens and cultural options in Port Louis: hindu temples and typical markets are favourites.
